Hemsökelsen SE I Friday

Spoken word synth – remember where you heard it first! Hemsökelsen are making their debut at Synth in Molkom. Ismael Ataria’s words meet David Engström’s music, with synth and spoken word together on stage.

A common thread of humanity runs through Ismael and David’s collaboration. A clenched fist raised to the sky as well as a tender hand against the cheek. The music is modern yet timeless. The classical meets the contemporary, the countryside meets the urban. A delicate line between vulnerability and strength. The electronically layered lyrics invite both comfort and struggle. The music urges us to listen as well as to shake our tails.

Ismael Ataria is a poet, writer and performer. He has toured the country with his poetry performances. Ismael has always cultivated his own distinctive voice as a poet and spoken word artist, developing a style all his own – a blend of highbrow literature, street culture and crowd-pleasing entertainment. Ismael’s poetry is a door that opens onto a space for everyone. In Ataria’s poems, light and darkness, seriousness and humour come together with a generous dose of human warmth.

David Engström is a musician, composer and producer. He has released various types of electronic music under his own name and various alter egos since the early 2000s. David studied at the Ingesund School of Music and has a broad musical background, having played in several bands and ensembles ranging from the still-active prog-rock band Vulkan to jazz, classical, funk and hip-hop. Although David has a particular fondness for electronic music, his musical spectrum encompasses all genres, which he often blends into a single cohesive whole.
